Krav Maga is a selfdefense system that came out of the Jewish communities in Eastern-Europe in the 1930's and 1940's. Being under constant threat of violence by fascist thugs Jewish boxers, wrestlers, fomer soldiers and cops decided to come together and set down the basics of a realistic defense system that could be taught to people with no fight experience in a short amount of time. The techniques also had to be effective for people who were smaller or weighed less than their attackers as there are no weight-classes on the street and most fascist thugs were tall, young Arian men.
Jewish refugees that ended up in the British Mandate of Palestine during and after WW2 brought these techniques with them and soon two systems were born: Krav Maga and Kapap. Both systems are nearly identical with Krav Maga focussing more on hard strikes and Kapap deploying more holds and chokes. Both systems were taught to military and police units in Israel and soon spread across the globe to be added to hand-to-hand combat systems for military and police units.
Krav Maga Kapap philosophy is simple: The best defense is offense! Someone tries to punch, choke, grab or kick you? No problem, we turn the attack around and make your life as miserable as possible! In Krav Maga Kapap we think you cannot just keep on deflecting or avoiding attacks and you must bring the fight to the attacker. And those attacks must be effective even if the attacker is bigger than you are! We smash noses, destroy the groin, crank necks and wrists and leave the attacker wishing they had made a better life choice that day.
